Charity Overview
The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. They rescue high quality, edible food, that would otherwise have gone to waste and turn it into delicious and nutritious meals to feed people experiencing food insecurity across London.
Working with over 1,000 community organisations including food banks, pantries, homeless shelters, refuges and 170 primary schools, their kitchen prepares a whopping 5,000 meals every single day. That’s 32 million meals for people at risk of going hungry in 2023 alone.
Project Summary
In addition to weekly deliveries to 14 schools across East London, ICAP funding has also enabled The Felix Project to launch its first youth-led pantry, based in Stratford in Newham.
I love helping the community, giving food to people that need it, so that could be the homeless, people who are refugees – it’s just about giving.Tiffany, Youth Pantry participant
Established in 2023 after a group of young people decided to make a difference in their local community. ICAP funding kickstarted the project helping the youth volunteers to secure food hygiene certification, develop marketing and branding skills as well as covering the costs of their weekly deliveries.
Our foodbank helps approximately 50 families. Basics such as bread and milk can provide breakfast for a child helping with their concentration. We would be lost without the help of The Felix Project.Kim Glynn, Chisenhale Primary
ICAP's support is also helping kids stay focused at school with The Felix Project food banks able to supplement parents’ weekly shop meaning students can focus on learning and not on being hungry.
