Charity Overview
The Royal Hospital Chelsea is the home of the iconic veterans of the British Army, the Chelsea Pensioners. Not only does it offer accommodation, but also comradeship and the highest standards of care in recognition of veterans' loyal service to the nation.
Any former soldier of the British Army over the age of 66, who is facing spending their advanced years alone, can apply for residence as a Chelsea Pensioner. Some 300 army veterans live at the Royal Hospital today.
Project Summary
ICAP donations are supporting an outreach programme providing community, comradeship and social opportunities to veterans who live outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea community, and who may be struggling with isolation/loneliness.
Through drop-in and advice sessions, the charity is signposting veterans and their carers, to appropriate agencies that can help to continue to address their wider health and social needs.
