Charity Overview
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice helps seriously unwell children and their families make the most of the special time they have together. The majority of babies and children that Noah's Ark support are unlikely to reach their 18th birthday. Their amazing staff and volunteers provide clinical, emotional and practical support to families across North and Central London and Hertsmere. The charity ensure children and families have access to the support they need, where they need it: in their homes and at The Ark, their state-of-the-art children’s hospice building in Barnet.
Project Summary
A donation from ICAP Charity Day sponsored the Ark's Central 'ICAP Atrium', and has enabled this place of light and life to be used by the families Noah's Ark support.
It’s been amazing to see The Ark’s Atrium buzzing with life; the place has been filled with love and laughter. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces, especially when the reindeer came in for the Frozen party, was particularly memorable. A huge thank you to ICAP – we couldn’t have done it without you!Sophie Andrews OBE, Chief Executive of Noah’s Ark
The Atrium ties the whole building together. It’s where children and families gather to spend precious moments together, whether that’s parents sharing experiences, siblings scooting around on the toy tesla or Noah’s Ark children enjoying the natural light and surroundings.
During the recent Half Term break, The Ark’s Atrium was filled with children and families for a fantastical Frozen-themed family party complete with real live reindeer and Disney Princesses, Anna and Elsa. The Atrium was brought to life with amazing fancy dress costumes, coloured streamers, balloons and plenty of glitter that made the whole place burst with laughter and love.
The Noah's Ark Family Activities Team plans various fun things to do for both referred children and their siblings throughout the year. Throughout the half term week, the atrium was buzzing with activities for siblings, including an array of fun games, arts and crafts, science experiments and much more. One of the children exclaimed, "I don't want this week to end!"
During half term, the Atrium also hosted renowned children’s author Dan Freedman, creator of Jamie Johnson, the hit series of children’s books, who inspired a group of Noah’s Ark siblings to follow their dreams.
