Charity Overview
Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1976, The Prince's Trust helps 11 to 30 year-olds find the tools and confidence to better their lives and start careers. No matter if they have been facing issues such as homelessness or if they've been in trouble with the law, they believe every young person deserves a second chance, and also have the chance to embrace exciting opportunities. Their programmes help young people into sustainable employment. Every 3 in 4 young people on a Prince’s Trust programme move into training, education or employment.
Project Summary
A donation from ICAP Charity Day 2019 was to fund Future Leader Programme opportunities for up to 200 young people.
Future Leaders was a brand new programme launched in May 2019 by Prince’s Trust Goodwill Ambassador Gareth Southgate OBE who co-developed the programme with the Trust’s delivery partner team to help young people access their inner leader. Partnering with Lea_p Leadership and Flying Start as delivery partners to give young people the foundations of leadership and teamwork, to unlock their potential.
I’m very fortunate in my position to have witnessed first-hand the benefits an individual can reap from the right advice and guidance at the right time. That’s why The Prince’s Trust exists, to offer that vital support to young people across the UK, and I feel proud to play a small part in helping them achieve that.Gareth Southgate OBE
The Future Leaders programme is open to 18 to 30-year-olds, and focuses on personal development and finding confidence and leadership from within. Participants work on essential employability skills, including interview techniques and uncovering what their leadership style is.
The Prince’s Trust and the Future Leaders programme has really helped me to recognise what’s been holding me back. It’s been really eye opening and uplifting and exactly what I needed to motivate me to make a change and take control of my life.Future Leaders Young Person
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and The Prince’s Trust centres being forced to close, The Trust started to deliver Future Leaders via their online hubs. This fast became one of their most successful and in demand programme deliveries online! Due to this style of delivery, they have been able to double the number of participants, reaching more young people than they would have in face to face delivery.
