Spread a Smile’s mission is to distract seriously ill children from the monotony of long hospital stays by spreading joy, laughter and positive memories. They support children up to the age of 18 receiving treatment for conditions including cancer, organ failure/transplants, sickle cell, bone marrow/stem cell treatment, cystic fibrosis and conditions that require high doses of steroids or immunosuppressant medicine and those in palliative care. All of Spread a Smile’s beneficiaries are considered high risk, are clinically extremely vulnerable and, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic, must remain in isolation in hospital or at home.
