A donation from ICAP Charity Day will support So They Can’s East Pokot Education Programme. Working with public schools to enable quality education in a community where illiteracy rates are 90% and school attendance is extremely low, 99% of girls are forced to go through female genital cutting and 85% of the girls get sold as child brides.

Charity Overview

So They Can is a not-for-profit organisation registered in Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Tanzania and the US. They see education as a basic human right, life-changing and essential to sustainable development and poverty eradication. The mission of So They Can is to provide quality education to children in Africa living in poverty through improved learning conditions, teacher training and development, and inclusive partnerships with the community and country government.

Their Education Programme currently empowers 45,000 children and their communities in Kenya and Tanzania. It is supported by three Enabler Programmes: Women's Empowerment, Child Wellbeing and Community Health and Support.
