Charity Overview

Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) provides life-guarding services on the beaches of New Zealand. In the past year, SLSNZ have performed over 230,000 hours of volunteer patrols and they have conducted 1062 rescues.

A key focus for the future of the charity is to continue educating New Zealanders on how to mitigate the risks with going to the beach. They do this through programmes such as the ‘Beach Education’ programme, which focuses on primary school pupils dealing with things such as: dealing with a rip tide, swimming between the flags and how to be sun safe.
